Scripture Observation Application Prayer
A Simple Way To Read God’s Word”

As we read God's words, we begin to see how God responds, we re-pattern the way we think and respond to life as Jesus did. Journaling is an excellent way to both record and process what God has spoken to us. While journaling might be personal, you may want to share some of your lessons with your small group or mentors. You may be able to gain new insight and even encourage others.

S for Scripture - Open your Bible to read that day’s section. Take time reading. Let God to speak to you. Look for one verse that particularly spoke to you that day, and copy it into your journal.

O for Observation - What do you think God is saying to you in this scripture? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal Jesus to you. Write this scripture down in your own words.

A for Application  - Personalize your reading by asking: “How does this apply to my life today?” It can be an instruction, a new promise, encouragement, or correction. Write how this applies to you today.

P for Prayer  - This step is asking God to help you use this scripture. It may be a greater insight on what He may be already saying to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say! Now, write it out.
